Akhilesh slams BJP, says Bihar poll will decide nation’s future
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the BJP while addressing four massive election rallies in Bihar, campaigning for INDIA bloc and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidates.
Yadav addressed rallies in Kalyanpur (East Champaran) for RJD candidate Manoj Yadav, Raghunathpur (Siwan) for Osama Shahab, Maharajganj for Vishal Kumar Jaiswal and Bhabhua (Kaimur) for Ajit Singh. "Bihar is ready for change. The BJP's corruption will end. The INDIA bloc will stop the loot of Bihar's budget and ensure that the state's money is spent on its people, not siphoned off to other states," he said.
Akhilesh accused the BJP of making false promises and betraying farmers and youth.
"The BJP thrives on deceit and conspiracy. When Tejashwi Yadav was deputy chief minister, he was giving jobs to young people, which made BJP insecure. They toppled the govt to stop employment initiatives," he said.
The former UP CM predicted a "massive victory" for the Mahagathbandhan saying: "A new Bihar will emerge with prosperity, jobs and social justice under Tejashwi's leadership."
Criticising the Modi govt's economic and foreign policies, he said: "BJP has failed in every sector. America dictates terms, imposes trade bans, yet BJP remains silent. Reports suggest a secret deal to importing vegan milk and curd from the US. Will those running ‘Gorakh-dhanda' in Gorakhpur consume it?"
He said the Bihar election was "not just about Bihar but about India's future. It's a battle for youth employment and dignity. Once BJP is ousted, jobs will return. This time, BJP will migrate from Bihar, not the youth," he said.
Taking a jibe at the UP CM Yogi Adityanath, he said: "Our ‘one-colour' CM is obsessed with changing names — of cities, schemes, and even himself. He's changed everything except the state's condition. In UP, people will soon change him too." Highlighting corruption in infrastructure projects, Akhilesh said the BJP govt could not even imitate SP's developmental model properly.
"The Agra-Lucknow Expressway was our vision, where even Hercules aircraft landed. The Gorakhpur road built under BJP is so poor that it gives backache. They copied without intellect — ‘nakal ke liye akal chahiye' (to copy well, you need brains)," he quipped. Reiterating the alliance's welfare promises, he said: "Tejashwi has pledged jobs for every family, Rs 2,500 monthly for women, LPG cylinders for Rs 500, Rs 30,000 monthly for self-help group women, and 200 units of free electricity. These steps will bring prosperity."
He added that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whom he called the "election groom," had already sensed defeat.
"He skipped even the Patna show because he knows the BJP's deceit has been exposed," he said.
Appealing for support to young RJD candidate Osama Shahab in Raghunathpur, he said: "Elect young leaders with fresh ideas. The youth will lead Bihar's transformation." Akhilesh concluded by outlining a joint vision with Tejashwi Yadav: "After Bihar forms the Mahagathbandhan govt, we'll form one in UP in 2027. We'll link Bihar and UP with expressways, connect directly to Delhi, bring industries, and ensure prosperity. The spirit of social justice kindled by Lalu Prasad Yadav and socialists will reign again in Bihar."
