allahabad: a division bench of the allahabad high court directed union agriculture minister ajit singh on thursday to file an affidavit within three weeks about the correctness of his statement published in an english daily in lucknow on september 10. in this connection, the bench also directed hindustan times editor-in-chief vir sanghvi, to file an affidavit within the same period.
the court also asked the high court bar association (hcba) to ensure that no untoward incident should take place if litigants put in an appearence. the court fixed october 15 for next hearing. it passed this order on a criminal contempt petition, filed by v k mahendra and four other of the high court. on september 9 when ajit singh was in the city hcba representatives met him to ascertain whether he had used contemptuous words against the high court judges.
