AIMPLB ‘dynasty board’: Madrassa Board chairperson
Lucknow: UP Madrassa Board chairperson Iftikhar Ahmed Javed on Tuesday targeted All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) for opposing the uniform civil code (UCC).Describing AIMPLB as a ‘Dynasty Board’ which is run by personal whims of people who are part of it, he said UCC should be implemented for all, as everyone is equal in the Indian Constitution. “There should be one law for all in India. The country has to be governed by one law and not by personal laws. Therefore, UCC has to come,” Javed said.He said, “UCC should have been implemented right after the Independence, but today Hindu code bill, Hindu Marriage Act are governed under the Indian Constitution, but Muslim personal law is governed by the dynasty. There are a few ‘khandani log’ (people of a lineage) who are part of an organised syndicate to create confusion, mislead Muslim community and create an environment of hatred in the country from time to time.”“For decades, Muslims have remained oppressed and underprivileged, but instead of working to uplift the community, certain Maulanas who have designated themselves as leaders of the community utter nonsense in society. One of them claims that a man remains young even after 80, while a woman becomes old at 45. Aren’t these certain Maulanas basically telling the community that multiple marriages are valid, and they can leave the woman after she turns 45? They want the community to remain engaged in such issues instead of asking for development. This has to stop in order to hold the rights of the women, and UCC is the tool for that,” he said.
