BMT cost at par with govt hosps, claims Medanta

Lucknow: Doctors at Medanta Hospital announced on Tuesday that their cost of bone marrow transplants was now similar to that of govt medical institutions in the city, without the long waiting time. Director of the hematology and bone marrow transplant department, Dr Anshul Gupta, said the hospital completed 50 transplants in one and a half year, including 24 allogeneic and 26 autologous procedures."The cost of BMT at SGPGIMS is around Rs 10-12 lakh and we are conducting procedures at the same cost," he added. Recently, the department treated successfully a patient with refractory acute lymphoblastic leukaemia using CAR-T therapy and the patient was cancer-free.Dr Gupta praised these achievements and reaffirmed the team's dedication to improving treatments for blood cancers.
