Abhay to appear in CMO murder case on Jan 22

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow police has executed warrant B to the Faizabad jail authorities after the same was obtained from a court to ensure appearance of mafia don Abhay Singh before the court in Dr Vinod Arya murder case. Abhay, the police claimed, has allegedly orchestrated the murder of CMO Dr Vinod Arya, which had rocked the state capital on October 27.
Abhay's name had cropped up, after the sharp shooters allegedly arrested by the police in Dr Arya murder case on December 12 told the police that contract to kill Dr Arya was given by mafia don Abhay Singh to brother duo Sumit and Amit Dixit.
Confirming execution of warrant B, DIG DK Thakur said that after the court gave permission on January 12 in this regard, the investigating officer of Dr Arya murder case executed Warrant B to Faizabad jail authorities on January 14.
Warrant B ensures that jail authorities produce an undertrial, who is already lodged in their jail, before the respective court, which has served the warrant.
The jail authorities, it is learnt, have told the investigation officer the mafia don's appearance before the said court would be ensured on January 22, when he would be brought to Lucknow with regard to some other case.
To recall, the special operation group (SOG) of DIG, Lucknow has arrested two sharp shooters, who were claimed to have been involved in the murder of Dr Vinod Arya, a chief medical officer posted at Family Welfare Department, on October 27.
Dr Arya was on a morning walk along with his pet dog, when the miscreants shot him dead just in front of Rani Laxmi Bai School in Sector 14, Vikas Nagar, a few metres away from the doctor's house.
The two sharp shooters were identified as Vijay Dubey and Ajay Misra.
Dubey then had told the police and special operation group (SOG) sleuths that the contract to kill Dr Arya was given by the mafia don Abhay Singh.
The contract amount was claimed by Dubey to be Rs 5 lakh. Dubey had told the police that Abhay gave contract to Sumit Dixit alias Anshu and his brother Amit Dixit alias Annu, who subsequently gave the task of eliminating Dr Arya to Sudhakar Pandey, who is still wanted by the police.
Both Sumit and Amit are in jail with regard to some case.
On December 25, the Lucknow police had taken Sumit and Amit on 24 hours remand. Sumit and Amit had admitted to be in touch with Abhay but had denied getting any contract money as claimed by Dubey.
After the appearance of Abhay on January 22, the Lucknow police would seek permission of the court to record the mafia don's statement in the jail. Subsequently, the police may seek a permission for custody remand of the mafia don.
Senior police officials believe that Abhay was the key person who has orchestrated the murder of Dr Arya. However, Abhay also got killed Dr Arya probably at the behest of some other person. But that would only be clear after Abhay is interrogated, the police official claimed.
