LUCKNOW: An uneasy calm prevailed in Salehnagar under Aashiana police station on Sunday, five days after 60 men were booked for rioting and sedition, following a clash between two communities, and two of them were arrested.

While those accused of raising pro-Pakistan slogans are on the run, family members are worried about their safety. Emotions are oscillating between anxiety and anger because police have allegedly not acted on a counter

against 25 residents of neighbouring Ruchi Khand, including seven named ones.

Mobina Bano, a Salehnagar resident, said her husband and son had not returned home since Tuesday. "The situation is still tense here. I fear for their safety," she said. Aashaina SHO Vishwajeet Singh said they had deployed police teams in the area to maintain peace.

A dispute over a modified bike silencer had snowballed into a clash between residents of Salehnagar and Ruchi Khand on Tuesday. On Friday, Zakir Ali, the father of an accused, had died of cardiac arrest. His wife lodged the counter FIR.
