Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a statewide protest against the trade agreement between the US and India, calling it a direct attack on the country's sovereignty.
In Lucknow, where the protest was led by district president Iram Rizvi, party workers were detained by the police. AAP has called the agreement a conspiracy to open up the Indian agriculture market to American interests.

"Instead of buying cheap oil from Russia, the govt has decided to buy Rs80,000 crore valued expensive oil from America and Venezuela. The common people will have to bear the brunt of this heavy expense. If India buys oil from Russia, America will impose 25% tax. Is this not a compromise with the country's sovereignty?" she asked.
Party functionary Dinesh Patel asked why the PM had settled for an 18% tax on India's garments while there was 0% on Bangladesh's garments.
