8 killed, 13 injured in UP road accidents

Lucknow: At least eight people, including two brothers, were killed and 13 injured in separate road accidents in Kanpur Dehat, Varanasi and Jaunpur in the past 24 hours.In Kanpur Dehat, three people, including two brothers, were killed and another was injured after their car lost control and fell into the Ramganga canal in Rasoolabad town on Friday afternoon. Two of the three deceased were identified as Rakesh Srivastava (54) and his brother Radhesh (42), while the identity of the car driver could not be ascertained. The injured was identified as Abhishek (26), son of Rakesh. All of them were residents of Bahraich Road, Gonda.
In another accident in Kanpur Dehat, two girl students died and three others were seriously injured when their auto collided with a DCM truck at Kausam Crossing in Gajner on Friday. Police took the DCM driver into custody and admitted the injured to the district hospital. The deceased were identified as Ritu, 17, and Khushi, 16. In Varanasi, two people were killed when their bike collided with a four-wheeler carrying devotees from Andhra Pradesh on the Babhanpura Ganga bridge under the Chaubeypur police station area late Thursday. According to reports, the deceased — Ravindra Mishra, Shriman Narayan Yadav and a minor boy — were travelling towards Varanasi from Chandauli on a motorcycle when they collided with a four-wheeler on the Ring Road. No occupant of the four-wheeler was injured. The minor boy also escaped unhurt. At least one person died and nine others were injured in a head-on collision between an SUV and a tractor at Puramukund village on NH-731 in the Badlapur area of Jaunpur district early Friday. While one teenager died on the spot, six people on the tractor and three SUV occupants sustained serious injuries.
