70-year-old held for raping teen in Auraiya

Kanpur: A 70-year-old man was sent to jail Sunday for allegedly raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl in Bidhuna area of Auraiya four months ago, police said. The matter came to light on Friday, when the girl complained of stomach pain. She was taken to hospital where doctors said she was four months pregnant. On being questioned, she revealed that four months ago, she went to the fields when the accused, of the same village, offered her sedative-laced prasad. After consuming the prasad, she lost consciousness, and the accused allegedly raped her. When she regained consciousness, he threatened her with a gun, warning her not to tell anyone or he would kill her and her family. Station in-charge Mukesh Babu Chauhan said a report was filed based on the complaint from the survivor's mother, leading to the arrest of the accused. The accused's DNA sample was taken and sent to a forensic lab in Jhansi for a probe while the girl underwent a medical examination. "Once the DNA test results are available, they will be included in the case. Further action will be taken based on the girl's statement in the court," said Chauhan.
