While the procession was passing through Galla Mandi, a sensitive area dominated by both communities in about the same ratio, the participants of the procession started playing inflammatory songs loudly from a music system being carried with the procession.
When the police tried to stop the songs from being played, the participants of the procession continued to play the songs, creating communal tension in the area. Faizabad SP City Sankalp Sharma said a case has been booked under Sections 188 and 153 A of the IPC against 500 unidentified persons who were in the procession, and who tried to communalise the atmosphere.
