LUCKNOW: Gunshot injuries were sustained by five persons, including two women, in a clash between two families on a school compound on Tuesday morning. The families have been in a dispute and had a heated argument on Monday too. The incident took place just when children were about to enter the school compound.
Bal Govind Tripathi and Suryakant Mishra and their families stay on the Maharaja Agrasen School compound in Daliganj.
Suryakant’s father used to manage the trust. The school is run by a trust and tenants have occupied rooms in it since 1967. They often fight over issues ranging from parking of vehicles and occupation of space to dry clothes, cleanliness and drawing water from hand pump.
On Monday, a commercial vehicle entered the compound and hit two-wheeler belonging to Suryakant’s son Abhilash alias Abhay. Mishras confronted Tripathi’s sister Madhuri. The issue got resolved after others pacified them. On Tuesday morning, male members of the two families came face to face again. Bal Govind, a property dealer, his brother Pankaj an advocate and Suryakant a businessman and Abhilash, a B Tech student clashed violently. Bal Govind was carrying a licensed .32 bore revolver with him and shot at Abhilash who was charging towards the Tripathis with a sharp-edged weapon.
The bullet hurt him in the shoulder but he managed to overpower Bal Govind and snatched the revolver. Female members of the two sides joined in too. Abhilash fired five gunshots and Bal Govind, Pankaj, Madhuri and their mother Girisha were injured. Madhuri was injured in the palm and Girisha in the legs while Bal Govind and Pankaj suffered wounds on hand and back, respectively.
Bleeding profusely, four members of Tripathi family, Abhilash and Suryakant, were rushed to KGMU’s trauma centre by Hasanganj police. Cases against both the sides were lodged under attempt to murder, rioting and other charges at Hasanganj police station. SSP Praveen Kumar said report to cancel Bal Govind’s licence will be forwarded. He had been named in a loot case in 1997.
