Lucknow: As many as 48 photographs of the miniature paintings present in the reserve collection of the State Museum were displayed in an exhibition on Tuesday on the occasion of World Heritage Day.
Inaugurated by acclaimed fine artist
Mohammad Shakil, the exhibition will remain open till April 31. The paintings were made in different miniature styles- Amer, Kota, Marwad, Kangra, Mandi, Malwi, Guler, Pahadi, Garwal, Bilaspur and Bundi, these paintings were made between 1725-1850 AD by different artists across India.
The paintings depict stories related to religion and mythology including Samudra Manthan, Bhagirath worshipping Shiva, Seshshayi Vishnu, Vamnavtar and Narsingh Avtar,” said state museum director Anand Kumar Singh.
