4 diploma courses for Sanskrit school students launched

Lucknow: The state government on Wednesday launched four new diploma courses to provide better education to students at Sanskrit schools.
These courses include diploma in Karma Kaand, Vaastu Shashtra, Jyotish and Yoga Sciences.
According to secondary education minister Gulabo Devi, the diploma courses would be run in recognised Sanskrit schools in self-finance mode. “The duration of diploma courses will be of one year which will have two semesters. Internships will be provided hands-on training,” the minister said. The eligibility for these diploma courses will be Class 12. There will be no age limit.
The school management committee will be responsible for recruitment of teachers for these diploma courses.
“Students will now apply online for examinations and there will be early registrations for the courses. Examination will be held under CCTV vigil. Affiliation was given to 48 new Sanskrit schools while following a transparent process,” she said.
“In government and aided Sanskrit schools, students of Class 6-8 are given free textbooks and mid-day meal. Promotion of Sanskrit language is on the priority of the government. We are working on modernisation of Sanskrit language schools and their upgradation, and providing all facilities to students,” she said.
Currently, there are 1,164 Sanskrit schools in the state where over one lakh students are enrolled. The government has opened 15 new government residential Sanskrit schools across the state.
The government has set aside Rs 100 crore for refurbishment of aided Sanskrit schools. In a first, capacity building programme is being organised for the principals of Sanskrit schools from July 20.
