kanpur: the first additional district and session judge kanpur dehat j p agrawal granted three months' time to sp traffic pankaj kumar for the improvement of the traffic system in the city. earlier, the judge asked for an explanation on the traffic system from the sp traffic through a notice in which the judge wrote that commoners had been the worst sufferers of vip visits due to traffic restriction imposed then.
responding to the notice, kumar said that at the time of issuing of the notice he was on leave and therefore couldn't reply to the notice. kumar later admitted that the traffic system in the city during the time of the chief minister's visit on july 8 was not up to the mark. he further assured the court that such incidents which had resulted in a lot of trouble for commuters would not occur again. the traffic system of the city came in the eye of a storm when a judicial official became the victim of traffic restrictions during chief minister rajnath singh's visit to the city on sunday, july 8. the first additional district and session judge, kanpur dehat, who was himself trapped in the route restraints near meghdoot crossing (mall road) while going for his medical treatment on sunday evening, has issued a notice to the sp traffic asking for his reply within seven days. in his notice to the sp traffic, kanpur city, judge agarwal instructed him to submit his reply to the court within a stipulated time so that president human right commission new delhi j s verma and the registrar high court judicature allahabad could be informed for further action in such cases. in the notice to the city traffic department agarwal had written that the chief minister or vips visit the city for the welfare of the people and it was an honour for the city dwellers to have them and unnecessary traffic restrictions should not be imposed to harass the people. in kanpur a vip road had already been identified. near meghdoot crossing, the traffic would be stopped just 10 minutes before the vip caravan and normal traffic could resume when they passed that spot.
