while inspector Madiaon TP Singh was sent to Reserve Police Lines (RPL) for being unaware of the incident on Saturday. SSP Lucknow,
Kalanidhi Naithani
took the step after a video of the incident went viral on social media. An FIR was also lodged against the prime accused
constable
in the case on Saturday.
According to reports, an auto driver identified as
Hanif
of Sitapur hit a cycle-rickshaw at Engineering College Crossing around 11.30pm on August 22, injuring the rickshaw-puller, a woman passenger and her daughter. A public response vehicle subsequently reached the spot with constable Anand Pratap Singh and head constable (commander PRV)

As the local police seemed to deliberately ignore the incident, some of the commuters filmed the incident and later uploaded it on social media. After the video went viral on Friday night, senior officials in police and home department questioned SSP Lucknow about the incident who later took action against the errant cops. SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani said that on Hanif ’s complaint, a case under charges of causing hurt and criminal intimidation was registered against Anand who had thrashed him.
