2 BSNL officers arrested for taking bribe

Lucknow: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two officers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Unnao district for accepting bribes from a contractor in exchange for releasing a pending payment of Rs 4.60 lakh, on Friday.
The CBI had received a complaint from the contractor that the telecom manager Umesh Chandra Tripathi and accounts officer Prashant Awasthi had sought Rs 50,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively from him.
The agency raided the Unnao office late night on Thursday, right after the complainant had handed over the money to Tripathi and Awasthi. Later the duo was produced before a court and sent to jail.
