NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old Dalit girl in Gonda,
Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly raped by two men in a moving car. The incident took place after the accused, Mohammad Arif and Mohammad Rizwan, reportedly lured the girl into their vehicle.
Following the attack, the car collided with an electric pole, after which the perpetrators fled. The police have since arrested the suspects based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother.
According to Manoj Kumar Pathak, the officer in charge at the City Police Station, the complaint was lodged on Sunday following the Saturday incident. "The woman has written in the complaint that her daughter was lured by Mohammad Arif and Mohammad Rizwan and dragged inside their car," Pathak stated.
The two men took the girl to a secluded area along the Circular Road where they allegedly raped her in the moving car. The assault ended abruptly when they lost control of the vehicle, hitting an electric pole. As a result, the culprits fled, abandoning the car.
The victim managed to return home and inform her family about the ordeal, prompting her mother to contact the authorities the following day. An FIR was registered, and the police quickly apprehended the suspects.
Pathak confirmed, "The girl has been sent for a medical examination."
The police recovered the car Arif claimed to have borrowed from a friend under the pretext of attending a relative's last rites. The investigation is ongoing.
