Lucknow: The 13-year-old boy, who was found hanging from a tree with a rope tied around his neck in Khushalganj village under Para police station area on Sunday was killed by three labourers who suspected him of having stolen Rs 1,000 from them.
The fact came to the fore during interrogation of the suspects, Romeo,
Raju Yadav and Rajendra Rawat, who were detained on Sunday after villagers handed them over to the police.
DCP South Zone Rahul Raj said the miscreants confessed and disclosed that Romeo lost Rs 1,000 and they suspected 13-year-old Indrajeetand his friend to have stolen it.
“They said they caught Indrajeet while his friend fled the scene and asked him about the money and when he denied stealing it, Raju Yadav choked his throat and the boy fell unconscious. They said they feared the boy had died and hanged him from a tree tying a plastic rope around his neck to make it seem to like suicide,” said Raj.
Police found in the probe that the boy had no reason to commit suicide. “The boy died of choking as was proved in the postmortem,” said Raj.
