Lucknow: A labourer was killed while six other labourers were injured after the scaffolding they were standing on caved in at the underconstruction site of Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) Raniyapur locality in Sarojininagar on Monday.
The CM has ordered a probe into the incident by a three-member panel comprising principal secretary, PWD, Narendra Bhooshan, ADG technical services Mohit Agarwal and PWD chief engineer.
The report has to be submitted to the government in 24 hours.
Yogi Adityanath also conveyed his condolences to the kin of the deceased and also financial compensation.
The fellow labourers pulled out the victims from the debris and rushed them to a hospital in Banthra. They were later referred to the KGMU Trauma Centre. The roof laying work was being done at a height of 30 feet and the contractor had compromised with the safety norms, said police sources.
The deceased was identified as Anwar Ali, 40, of Chhapra in Bihar. The injured were identified as Sumeer Mahaveer, Paloos Madi and Dulal of West Bengal and Digvijay of Gorakhpur. The contractor was identified as Sanjay Prasad.
According to the police, the labourers were doing roof laying work at the first floor of the under construction building and the scaffold caved in. “Those standing on the scaffold came under the debris and suffered serious injuries,” said a police officer.
ACP, Krishnanagar, Arvind Verma, said they have not yet received any complaint against the contractor yet.
