Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Monday sent deputy CM Manish Sisodia to CBI remand till March 4. The Aam Aadmi Party is staging protests across the country against Sisodia's arrest in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor excise policy case on Sunday. The party also staged protests at the Bharatiya Janata Party's headquarters at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in the national capital on Monday. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday claimed that Sisodia was arrested due to political pressure on the CBI. In a tweet, Kerjiwal claimed that most of the agency officers were against arresting the AAP leader but they were “under pressure” from their political bosses. Stay with TOI for all live updates:

The entire AAP leadership came down heavily on BJP on Sunday after deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was asked to appear before CBI– and later arrested – in the alleged excise policy scam. The party called it a “black day for democracy”. Responding to the arrest, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi: "Manish is innocent. His arrest is dirty politics. There is a lot of anger among the people due to the arrest of Manish. Everyone is watching. People are understanding everything. People will respond to this. It will boost our spirits further. Our struggle will get stronger. "

A day after being arrested by CBI, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia is likely to be present before court today. Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s arrest in the alleged excise policy scam — though widely speculated by many, including chief minister Arvind Kejriwal — has come as a big jolt to the Aam Aadmi Party. Handling 18 of the 33 government departments, Sisodia was not only literally carrying the entire government on his shoulders, but his able handling of the dispensation had also given the chief minister a leverage to focus on the expansion of the party beyond Delhi and Punjab.

CBI: Sisodia failed to cooperate with probe
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s questioning began at the CBI’s headquarters around 12 noon and he was confronted with around 30-40 questions, officials said. “Many contentious provisions were added to the liquor policy which weren’t part of the first draft. Sisodia failed to explain how those provisions were included in the final draft, he mostly replied saying ‘I don’t know’,” said a source. A statement under 164 CrPC by an officer, who worked in excise dept, allegedly revealed the role of Sisodia in tweaking the drafts.
