Goregaon fire tragedy live updates: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announces fire audit of all Slum Rehabilitation Authority buildings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives due to the Fire mishap in the SRA building at Goregaon West in Mumbai. He has announced an ex-gratia from PMNRF of Rs 2 lakh to the family of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde says about Goregaon fire tragedy: "The incident is saddening. I have been in contact with the Police Commissioner & Mahapalika Commissioner since morning. I have met the patients in the hospital. All patients are out of danger & proper treatment is being given to those in ICU...I have given instructions to investigate the mishappening..."

Sikkim Flood News: Sikkim tourists safe, choppers may start evacuation today

The 7,000-odd tourists-3,000 among them from Bengal-who were stuck in Sikkim following the Teesta's flash flood in Lachen Valley early on Wednesday, were safe and getting help from the Indian Army and local administration, Sikkim government said on Thursday. Weather permitting, evacuation of tourists is likely to start from Friday.
