MALAPPURAM: It is expected that over 5,000 children will be initiated into the world of letters this year at the 'ezhuthiniruthu' ceremony marking the final of the five-day Vidyarambham festivities at Thunchan Parambu on Monday.
The festival would be inaugurated by the vice-chancellor of Malayalam University K Jayakumar on Thursday. M T Vasudevan Nair will preside over the function.

Thousands of parents from different parts of the state will visit the land of Malayalam's patriarch Thunchathu Ezhuthachan to have their children script 'Harisree Ganapathaye Namah' on rice.
The Vidyarambam festival at Saraswathimandapam will begin at 5am on Vijayadasami Day.
There is no need of registration for Ézhuthiniruthu this time and queue system arranged to control the visitors, said noted writer Manamboor Rajan Babu who is the member of organizing committee.
Dance and other cultural festivals also would be organized as part of the fest. Akshara Shudhi Mathsarama was organized on October 6, as part of the fest. On Friday, Carnatic vocal concert and Mohiniyattom will be held. A national seminar on devotion and poetry will be held on October 12. Purushotham Agrawal, C Radhakrishnan , Sachithanandan and others will attend the function. A seminar on Bakthi Literature in Malayalam would be held on October 13. NVP Unithiri, P Venugopalan, V Kaladharan, M R Raghava Varrier, P Pavithran and others will attend various sessions of the seminar.
