KOZHIKODE: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Koodathayi murders has impounded the vehicles of prime accused Jolly Joseph on Wednesday
A substance resembling poison was recovered from a secret place near the driver’s seat in the car of Jolly, sources said. The substance, which was kept in a small cavity, was sent for forensic examination.
The car was kept on the premises of a neighbouring house ever since Jolly was arrested on October 5. The vehicle was searched after revelations by Jolly, who is in police custody in a case related to the murder of Sili, Shaju’s former wife. The two-wheeler used by Jolly has also been impounded by police on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Jolly’s present husband Shaju and his father Skaria were summoned by police for interrogation at the Coastal Police Station in Vadakara. Jolly had stated that Shaju had knowledge of the plan to murder Sili.
Jolly had told police that Sili had her food at a wedding reception, but Sili’s son revealed that his mother ate food given by Jolly from the Ponnamattam house.
Jolly had reportedly poisoned Sili three times — first in food, in a capsule and finally in the water she drank after reaching the clinic of a dentist.
Jolly never took her to nearby hospitals after Sili fainted at the dentist’s clinic. Instead, she took Sili to the hospital in Omassery in a car, which is about 8km away. It was reported that Jolly had sent an SMS to Shaju’s mobile phone saying ‘everything is clear’ shortly after Sili’s death.
Police got the information that it was Shaju’s father Skaria who took the initiative for the marriage between Shaju and Jolly after Sili’s death. Police brought Shaju and Skaria to the room where Jolly was interrogated. tnn
