KOZHIKODE: The revenue department has started special survey to identify encroachment of

The revenue officials, during the survey on Friday alone identified 4.5 acres of encroached land in Kasaba and Nagaram villages.

On Thursday, the officials had marked another 1.5 acres of encroached land during the special drive.

According to officials, 1.5 acres of encroachment was detected while measuring just 500 metres of Puramboke land in Nagaram village. In Kasaba village, the extent of encroachment is even higher as they could detect 3.5 acres of encroached Puramboke land while surveying 500 metre stretch.

The officials also listed 19 buildings in the 4.5 acres of encroached land identified on Friday. On Thursday, the officials had identified 8 buildings as illegally constructed on encroached land. All these buildings were constructed levelling

river.

The district administration has started encroachment eviction drive across the district to protect river and other water bodies. The officials have also started survey to identify encroachment along Canoli canal in Elathur, Puthiyangadi and Vengeri Villages.

The survey work will be completed at the earliest, said district collector U V Jose. Besides, more thrust will be given to eviction and protection of evicted land, he added.
