Kerala: Salafi outfit to hold seminar on 'secure society' on Saturday

" against the backdrop of increasing communal polarisation in the country.

, general secretary of the organisation, said that it has become evident that only democratic and secular forces can successfully contain the majority communalism and

minority extremism

.

"The signs emanating from different parts of the country are disturbing. The government’s apathy in addressing the issues of mounting hatred towards the minorities and the caste violence is condemnable," he said.

Ashraf said the issue of insecurity feeling faced by the minorities in the country, widening communal schism, state-sponsored terror, widespread human rights violations, communal harmony and harassment of women will be the topics of discussion at the seminar.

Around 8000 delegates, who are the office-bearers of the organisation at different levels, will attend the Leaders’ Meet to be held as part of the seminar from morning to evening. Study classes, panel discussions and video presentations will be held at the meet.

Scholars including Aboobacker Salafi, Faizal Moulavi, Mujahid Balussery, Shameer Madani, Abdul Malik Salafi and others will lead the sessions.

Rizwan Qaiser, director at Centre for Comparative Religions and Civilizations, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, will inaugurate the seminar in the evening. Wisdom Islamic Organisation president P N Abdul Latheef Madani, will preside. MPs M K Raghavan, M I Shanawaz and E T Muhammad Basheer will be the chief guests.

Dr Harjeet Singh Bhatia from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Mohida Kumar Pande, former students’ union president of Jawaharlal Nehru University will present papers.

Wisdom leaders Kunhimuhammad Madani Parappur, C M Sabir Nawaz, C P Salim and Hussein Salafi will speak.
