Kerala polls: RMP again fields Rema in Vadakara
Kozhikode: K K Rema will contest from Vadakara as the candidate of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) in assembly polls. Announcing her candidature, RMP state secretary N Venu said Rema had won the previous election with a margin of 8,000 votes and he expressed confidence that she would secure an even bigger victory this time.He said RMP would support UDF candidates in all constituencies. "Our aim is to ensure the defeat of BJP and its ‘B team' in Kerala, which is CPM," he said. Rema, wife of slain RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan, is the MLA of Vadakara. She had defeated LDF candidate Manayath Chandran by 7,491 votes in 2021.Venu added that May 4, the martyrdom day of Chandrasekharan, would also mark the ‘last rites' of CPM and the Pinarayi Vijayan govt through the people's verdict. He said the current situation, where leaders like G Sudhakaran in Alappuzha and T K Govindan in Kannur are distancing themselves from the party, did not emerge overnight. Venu added that leaders like V Kunhikrishnan and T K Govindan are not rebels but true communists. He said RMP is considering a broader public platform to bring such leaders together.
