KOZHIKODE: IUML national general secretary PK Kunhalikutty said Rahul Gandhi's decision to contest from Rae Bareli will significantly boost the prospects of INDIA bloc in elections. He said that there was nothing wrong in Rahul contesting from Rae Bareli as well and added that IUML too had requested the Congress leadership that Rahul must contest from one more seat as it would give a fillip to INDIA bloc.
When asked about the criticism by LDF leaders against Rahul's decision, Kunhalikutty said Left parties, as members of INDIA bloc, will desire a victory for the bloc and in that sense, they should welcome the candidature of Rahul in Rae Bareli.
When asked about the concerns raised by some Left leaders that the decision could lead to a byelection in Wayanad, Kunhalikutty said he was glad to hear that Left leaders too are convinced of Rahul's win in Rae Bareli.
"If a byelection takes place in Wayanad, the people of the constituency will celebrate Rahul's victory in Rae Bareli and that would lead to further increase in the victory margin," he said.
