KOTTAYAM: One person was killed and six injured after a car carrying
Sabarimala pilgrims
collided with an autorickshaw in
Erumely
on Wednesday. The driver of the autorickshaw
K S Jomon
, 26, was the deceased. The victim’s sister Jomol, 28, and Ebin, 2, son of Sasi and Bindu were injured.
Those in the car hailing from
Enammavu
in Trissur who got injured include driver Roshan, 34, Rino, 28, Abhishek and Abhijjeet. They were admitted in a private hospital nearby.
The accident was around noon time at Mukkuttuthara. The vehicle of the pilgrims returning from Sabarimala collided with the autorickshaw which was going towards Muttappally from Mukkuttuthara.
Ebin was thrown out of the rickshaw following the collision. Ebin’s parents were working in an estate and they used to leave the boy with the neighbour Jomol whenever they go for work. Jomol was carrying Ebin along with her as she had to go out with her brother. Though the siblings were rushed to the Medical College Hospital in Kottayam Jomon's life could not be saved.
