KOZHIKODE: A state-level function to mark the
National Youth Day was organised at Malabar Christian college. The event was inaugurated by District Collector Sambasiva Rao.
The programme was organised by the Kerala State AIDS Control Society and District Health Department. The District Collector also felicitated the young achievers who have made outstanding contributions to their respective chosen fields of work.
Dr P N Ajitha, Rotary East president, delivered keynote address on this occasion. District Medical officer Dr V Jayashree presided over the inaugural function.
A seminar was also held soon after the public convention. Dr Anu Mohandas, assistant professor, Department of Community Medicine, Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, presented a paper on Mobile app based Mdiabetes – a health initiative launched by government to prevent diabetes among public.
Kerala State AIDS Control Society joint director Rashmi Madhavan, district TB and AIDS Control officer Dr PP Pramod Kumar, National Health Mission programme manager Dr A Naveen, Malabar Christian College NSS programme officer P Dhanaraj and others spoke on the occasion.
Students of Providence Women’s College, Guruvayurappan college, Farook college, Malabar Christian college staged various art and cultural programmes.
Earlier, a procession was held in the city from Government Model Higher Secondary School to Malabar Christian college. More than 1,000 students of various colleges, NSS, NCC , student police cadets participated in the procession.
