Kozhikode: IUML state general secretary P M A Salam has come out against the mass transfer of police officers in Malappuram district following the allegations levelled by P V Anvar MLA, saying that the decision was taken to whitewash and protect the officials who were facing allegations.
The state govt had transferred eight DSPs in the district on Tuesday.
"Among the transferred officials include those who had assumed charge just one month ago. The govt should have acted against those who were facing the allegations. Instead, resorting to mass transfer of officials was aimed at protecting the officers who are facing the allegations. They can now say that they were transferred along the rest as part of mass transfer," Salam said.
He said that it was a decision which the
RSS too desired as it sends out the message that all senior police officers in Malappuram have been transferred.
"Such a decision has been taken to insult the district as it sends out a message that all the police officers in the district were involved in wrongdoings," Salam said adding that the decision would affect the morale of the police.
Salam also lashed out at the chief minister for maintaining silence on the issue of ADGP M R Ajith Kumar meeting top RSS leaders and said that the reports that are emerging show why the CM is fearing the ADGP. Salam alleged that reports have emerged that a relative of the CM was along with the ADGP when he went to meet RSS leader Ram Madhav.
