MALAPPURAM: As part of their on going observance of martyrs’ week, the Maoists in

Nilambur

have vowed to take revenge against the murder of their senior leaders

Kuppu Devraj

and Ajitha. The posters of CPI (Maoist) vowing to take revenge have surfaced in Punchakkolli tribal colony under Vazhikkadavu police station limit in Nilambur on Monday morning.

The region was under high vigil after the police report that the Maoist groups are planning to scale up their activities once again in the region after the setback received due to the death of Kupppu Devraj and Ajitha in an encounter with police in November last year. CPI(Maoist) is observing the martyr’s week in the region as part of the 50th anniversary of naxal movement in the country, from July 28 to August 3.

The posters say that the encounter killing of Kuppu Devraj and Ajitha is clear violation of human rights and the organisation will take revenge against the murder and will not pardon the traitors. Police have already confirmed that a gang of Maoists have visited the

Punchakolli

around 8 pm on Sunday.
Recently Maoists had claimed that they have formed Revolutionary People’s Committee (RPC) of local people, in Nilambur region, as part of their Martyrs’ week observance. The

RPCs

are basic form of parallel government set up by the Maoists in their strongholds, challenging the government machinery. In these regions the committee will take decisions regarding the life of villagers including health, educaton, irrigation and social welfare that are now being controlled by government.
