Malappuram police chief orders probe into fake Whatsapp audio clip of ADGP
MALAPPURAM: The district police chief of Malappuram Debesh Kumar Behra has ordered a detailed investigation regarding the fake whatsapp audio clip in the name of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), South Kerala. The audio clip in the name of ADGP, B Sandhya, that urges the Malappuram people to be vigilant as the government will deploy military forces in Malappuram district, was spreading fast in Whatsapp and other instant message applications of social media, after the recent blast in Malappuram court premises.
The probe was ordered on Monday after the special branch DSP of Malappuram Ashoka Kumar submitted a report on preliminary investigation conducted by Cyber Cell of police on the fake audio clip.

The police chief has formed a special team led by DSP of Crime Branch, Malappuram, C K Babu, for conducting a detailed probe into incident and to nab the culprits behind the fake audio message. Malappuram police has already registered a case regarding the fake audio message. The special policy team will collect scientific evidence regarding the audio with the support of IT wing of police.
The female voice in the audio clip urges people of Malappuram to be vigilant against the terror activities in the district as the government is planning to deploy military forces in Malappuram if one more similar explosion will happen in the district. The audio says BJP had warned of Malappuram explosion one month ago and people of Malappuram should be ready to save themselves from terror activities by carrying out raids for explosive substances. The district police chief has informed that the preliminary investigation has confirmed that the audio in the whatsapp message is fake. “The audio message was fabricated one and it was a deliberate attempt to create communal and law and order issues in the district. We have started a detailed investigation and the culprits would be arrested soon”, he said.
Meanwhile the special investigation team probing the minor blast near court complex in the town on November 1, is yet to make any headway. DSP of Malappuram, P T Balan, who is leading the investigation said that no major clue regarding the culprits behind the incident. The role of terror organisation 'Base Movement' is suspecting behind the incident.
