KVK imparts one-day training programme on Aquaponics to farmers from four Karnataka districts

organized one-day training programme to farmers on

Aquaponics method of farming

at

KVK Peruvannamuzhi

here on Saturday. The KVK conducted the training programme on the basis of requests received from farmers to conduct training on Aquaponics.

Aquaponics is a new system of

combined cultivation of fish

and plant in a recirculating water system. Dr B Pradeep Subject matter specialist of KVK took classes during the occasion. He conducted classes covering the topic such as principles of Aquaponics, components, system of their integration, design and development of Aquaponics systems. Apart from this, a demonstration on system of working of Aquaponics was also held with the help of horizontal Aquaponics demonstration unit established at KVK.

Dr B Pradeep Subject matter specialist of KVK said since aquaponics method of farming allows to fix the fish excrete contains ammonia into nitrates by botanic and use it as plant fertilizer, it increase the plant growth and production.

A total of 43 farmers from Nanmanda, Meppayur, Koilandy, Perambra, Calicut city, Thamarassery areas of Kozhikode district and farmers from Thrissur, Kannur and Malappuram districts were participated the one day training programme.
