Kudumbasree movie fest begins on Thursday at Malappuram
MALAPPURAM: Introducing the lay women the world of classic cinema, the first edition of Kudumbasree Malappuram Movie Festival ( KMMF), will begin on July 20, Thursday at Malappuram.
A special session for the transgender members of Kudumbasree, would be the major highlight of the the festival being organised under the tittle ‘
The district tourism promotion council hall at Kottakunnu in Malappuram town would be the venue of the fest.
A total of 25 feature films and documentaries would be screened at the festival.
A single-character drama ‘Mannathi Theyyam’ by Sreeja Arangotukara would be staged as part of the concluding ceremony of the fest.
The district coordinator of Kudumbasree Mission C K Hemalatha said that festival aiming to introduce Indian classic films and short films to the members of Kudumbasree, majority of whom are from rural parts of the district. Members of Kudumbasree units of five blocks in the district would attend the festival each day. “We are planning to make the festival an annual event. We will organise poster campaign and street plays as part of the film festival”, she said.

would inaugurate the fest on Thursday. A special session on the role of women in Malyalam cinema ‘Ediyude Cinemayum Cinemayile Ediyum
’ would be held on the second day of the fest. A talk based on the topic ‘Kazhchayude Rashtreeyam’ by noted coloumnist Sreechithran M J, would be held on the concluding day. Discussion forums attended by eminent film personalities and ‘Chaya Varthamanam
