KOZHIKODE: District Administration with the help of
Kozhikode
Corporation and District Tourism Promotional Council (
DTPC
) conducted mass
cleaning drive
at Bhatt road beach. The special cleaning drive covering
Bhatt road beach
and its surrounding areas was conducted as part
clean beach mission
programme.
Brochures on waste free beach was distributed to public during the occasion.
Around 250 members including
National Service Scheme
volunteers of various schools, members of Bhatt road park forum, NCC students of
Malabar Christian College
, corporation sanitation workers, cleaning staff of DTPC attended the cleaning drive. District collector Sambasiva Rao; Corporation Tax and Appeal standing committee chairperson Asha Sasankan; DTPC Secretary C P Beena; Energy Management Centre district coordinator Dr N Sijesh, corporation health inspector K Rishad and others lead the cleaning drive.
The bushes on the park and surrounding areas was also cleared during the occasion. The upcoming DTPC executive committee meeting will prepare detailed project plan to convert Bhatt road park as cultural hub. Waste bins to place non-degradable waste will be placed at Bhatt road beach to avoid waste littering.
