Former DCC treasurer K K Gopinathan and bank president Sunny George have been suspended from the party for six months pending inquiry.

The decision in this regard was taken by KPCC president K Sudhakaran based on a report submitted by the three-member inquiry panel constituted by the party. The two leaders have been asked to furnish explanation within a week over the allegations, failing which further disciplinary action will be taken.

The inquiry by the party panel is learnt to have found that though many party supporters had approached them for job, many of them were not considered for the posts and instead some CPM supporters were granted job. DCC president I C Balakrishnan had constituted the three-member commission following allegations that bribes amounting to lakhs of rupees were involved in the appointments to the posts of peon and watchman in the bank.
