KOZHIKODE: In a gruesome incident, a 16-year-old girl died after getting hit by a train while crossing a railway gate at Chirakkal in Kannur on Saturday at around 7.30am when she was on her way to school. The deceased has been identified as Nanditha T Kishore, daughter of Kishore of Alavil.
According to police, the girl had come to the railway gate with her mother in a car. The gate had closed by the time they reached, and she used to board her school bus on the other side of the gate. Nanditha was trying to quickly cross the gate before the train passed to avoid missing her school bus when she got hit by the train.
She fell to the side and sustained serious injuries. Her mother was at the spot when the incident happened. Although she was rushed to a hospital, her life couldn’t be saved. A CCTV visual of the incident has been widely shared on social media. Another girl can be seen crossing the gate and walking forward.
Valapattanam police have registered a case of unnatural death. Nanditha's body was handed over to the kin after an autopsy.
