Kerala suicide case: Woman filmed 7 ‘inappropriate’ videos of man inside bus, say cops
KOZHIKODE:Police submitted a remand report in Kerala’s Kunnamangalam court in connection with the suicide of a native of Govindapuram.
They said a woman from Vadakara, who they arrested Wednesday on charge of abetting the man’s suicide, recorded seven videos featuring him in an inappropriate manner.
A few days ago, the woman posted a video on social media alleging sexual harassment by the deceased during a bus ride on Jan 16.
Police report said the man took his life amid severe mental distress and defamation over the clip and feared that viewers would take him for a sexual pervert.
Police noted that examination of CCTV footage from the private bus showed the man and the woman boarding the bus and, that, nothing unusual occurred during the journey.
CCTV visuals showed them alighting from the bus in a normal manner, the report said, adding that the bus crew gave a statement to police that they did not notice any sexual harassment bid inside the bus and, that, the deceased and the woman alighted from the bus without any fuss.
Police said the woman’s mobile phone must be sent for forensic exam, as this will help recover her deleted Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Police are yet to record statements of other passengers who travelled with the duo on the bus. The woman has now filed a sexual harassment complaint against the deceased.
