ALAPPUZHA: Now sky is the limit for his happiness. Sreekanth, a tenth standard student can attend online classes from his home and can study under the light of electric blub from Wednesday.
After TOI published a story titled Sreekanth still studies in the light of kerosene lamp on Wednesday, Alappuzha district collector A Alexander intervened in the issue and take immediate action for providing power supply to his home.

"I don’t know how to express my happiness. Like my friends, I can also attend online classes from my home and can study under the light of electric blub," said an excited Sreekanth.
Sreekanth is a tenth standard student and his sister Sreelakshmi is pursuing dialysis technician course. When their friends were busy with attending online classes, Sreekanth and his sister hailing from poor scheduled caste family of Kanjikuzhy in Alappuzha, could not attend online classes as their house did not have electricity and they didn’t have a smartphone too.
After reading TOI’s story, Alappuzha district collector immediately intervened in the issue and took steps for providing power supply to their house.
"There is an electric pole just 20 metre away from our home and it is standing on the land of the Kanjikuzhy grama panchayat. Though we have approached many times, the panchayat authorities, they did not ready to give the consent to us,” said Jytohi, wife of Satheessan.
Kanjikuzjy grama panchayat president M G Raju said that they gave consent to Satheessan on Wednesday for taking power supply.
