KOZHIKODE

: Art serves different purposes. Here a man is using his artistic talent for collecting fund for Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (

CMDRF

).

MV Vysakh, a cooperative bank employee from Koodaranhi, is using his free time during the lockdown to sketch

portraits

of known and unknown persons. Instead of selling the

sketches

at a fixed price, he insist the people to donate some amount to the CMDRF.

The man has so far completed sketching over 50 portraits in just a week with the help of android app installed in his mobile phone. Reflecting the success of the initiative a large number of people are approaching this man through Facebook and WhatsApp accounts to get their portraits sketched.

One will have to make a payment of any sum not less than Rs 100 to CMDRF and send a screen shot of the transaction along with the photograph to Vyshakh to get a portrait sketched.

“Many are responding enthusiastically to the initiative,” shared Vyshakh. On noticing the poster I posted on the Facebook Time lime, many started approaching me with the payment receipt, he said.

Vyshakh is getting overwhelming response so that he has now decided to seek the support of five of his artist friends to complete the sketching task.

“I am not a trained artist. I started using the drawing app with the start of the lock down,” said Vyshakh. I made my self-portrait first and used it as my display image and status, he said.

Many started approaching me with request to make their portraits on seeing my sketch, he explained why he decided to launch a different campaign. It takes nearly two-and-a-half hours for completing one sketch and as I am taking so much effort I decided to direct the persons to make a nominal payment to CMDRF, he said.

He has so far succeeded in prompting of 50 persons to donate over Rs 1.5 lakh to the CMDRF. Though Vyshakh insist only on the payment of Rs 100 to CMDRF, majority of the persons are paying Rs 500 and above to CMDRF before sending him photographs.

“I am receiving so many photographs along with receipts of payment to CMDRF and it may take a few more weeks to complete the work,” said Vysakh, who is also a member of the rapid response team of the panchayat. I will, however, complete the sketches of all with the help of my friends, he said.
