of Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR), Peruvannamuzhi, organised an awareness programme on recent advances in agricultural practices suitable to Kozhikode district to the
Agriculture
officers and progressive farmers from seven Panchayat of Perambra block.
Experts imparted classes about the improved black pepper varieties. Pro-tray method of ginger seedling production, bio-control methods of pest and disease management, ornamental fish production and feed preparation, aquaponic system, manufacturing value added products from banana, jack fruits and Kasthuri turmeric and aero- phonic method of fodder production. The experts have also imparted classes on broiler goat management and soil test based nutrient management in banana, coconut and vegetables for its large scale spread and popularisation. The agriculture officers and farmers were also taken to spices processing facility at IISR farm, poly-house nursery, Goa farm and hatchery of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) on the day.
The programme was coordinated by Dr P Ratha Krishnan, Programme Coordinator. Experts including Dr PS Manoj, Dr KK Aiswarya, Dr B Pradeep, Deepthi and Dr MS Mariya Dainy of KVK were imparted classes and explained the advanced agricultural practices and technologies to the participants.
