KOZHIKODE: All eyes are now on the CBI with the police coming up with more evidence, including an extra-judicial confession to prove the role of the RSS in the murder of

Muhammad Fazal

. Fazal, a

National Development Front

(NDF) activist, was killed on October 22, 2006. Police believe that the evidence they collected are solid and irrefutable and can stand any legal and scientific scrutiny.

CPM leaders Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan, along with other six other party cadres including

Kodi Suni

, are the accused in the case that was probed by the CBI. But the arrest of RSS activist Subeesh hailing from Chembra, Mahe, by Kerala police in connection with the murder of CPM activist

K Mohanan

at Pathiriyad a few months ago, provided a breakthrough to the case.

Police had accessed some telephonic conversations Subeesh had with other RSS workers a year ago. In one of the conversations, he recollected the Fazal murder in graphic details.

These conversations were replayed to Subeesh when he was arrested and he spilled the beans not just about Fazal murder but three other political murders in Kannur.

TOI has accessed the video of Subeesh's confession to the police. In the one-and-a-half hour long video Subeesh narrated the whole episode apparently without any coercion from the police officers.

Police are confident that the confession given to them is enough for the CBI to conduct a further investigation. What adds strength to the confession is that it was made voluntarily and to another RSS worker, police said.
