A review meeting chaired by minister for ports Ramachandran Kadannappally, which was attended by the Kial managing director V Thulasidas, district collector TV Subhash, DIG K Sethuraman and other officials evaluated the preparedness and said that the facility is ready to receive the first flight reaching here after the outbreak of Covid-19.

All facilities for quarantine have been put in place and those who are coming back will have to adhere to it. Though they are coming after health check-up, the possibility of some positive cases cannot be ruled out and hence we should make sure that it doesn't spread to others, said the minister.

The Air India Express, which is expected to land here at 7.10pm on May 12, will have over 170 passengers. After medical examination as per the protocol they would be shifted to the quarantine facilities. Those who have any symptoms of the disease would be shifted to the separate observation facilities, said the officials.
