Kozhikode: Three days have passed since a case was registered against former Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya, but the police have not interrogated her even as the Thalassery district principal sessions court is set to consider her anticipatory bail plea on Monday.
Though the police booked her under abetment of suicide charges in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu K, the police have not issued notice to her or recorded her statement.
Also, the police are yet to record the statement of Kannur district collector Arun K Vijayan.
In the bail plea filed on Friday, Divya said that she attended Babu's farewell function based on the informal invitation by the district collector. Divya had maintained that the remarks she made at the function were done with good intentions as a public representative. The corruption charges levelled against Babu were based on a revelation made by the controversial petrol pump owner T V Prasanthan, she claimed in the bail application.
In the bail plea moved through advocate K Vishwan, Divya had also stated that she would cooperate completely with the investigation team. She also cited her responsibility in caring for her elderly parents, husband and a daughter.
