The Russian-made aircraft was going from Jorhat in Assam to Menchuka air force station in Arunachal Pradesh.
Vijayan was accompanied by his representative in Dharmadam constituency P Balan, CPM district secretary MV Jayarajan among others.
Sharin, son of PK Pavithran and Sreeja, had been working in Menchuka since 2017 and he had called his family members, including wife Ashitha, on the fateful day. It was around 12.27pm that day the aircraft took off and it lost contact within half an hour. It was after ten days that the authorities confirmed the death of the 13 IAF men, after the wreckage was spotted in the hilly forest area.
A couple of days ago, the IAF officials had visited Chakkarakkal police station and conveyed the message regarding the efforts to bring the mortal remains of the soldier. However, the family or police have not received any confirmation as to when it would be brought.
