KOZHIKODE: The investigation team on Friday filed a chargesheet
in the Adithi
murder case before Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. Though the police had completed investigation into the murder of the seven-year-old girl after frequent torture by her father and step-mother, technical reasons had delayed the submission of chargesheet.
The girl succumbed to injuries on May 1, 2013.
According to police, the girl suffered from malnutrition.
The chargesheet was submitted by circle inspector of Nadakkavu police station P K Santhosh Kumar. According to the chargesheet Subramanian Namboodiri, father of the girl is the first accused in the case and Devika Antharjanam alias Remla Beegam is the second accused in the case. The persons have been charged under Section 302 (murder) and 307 (attempted murder) of the IPC.
The police had collected statement from 45 witnesses including Arun S Namboodiri, brother of the girl. Teachers of Adithi, neighbours and workers of Childline were also included as witnesses.
Arun is the first witness in the case and the police charged section 307 against Subramanian Namboodiri and Devika for murder attempt on Arun.
