BJP demands Divya’s arrest over ADM’s death
Kozhikode: BJP state president K Surendran has called for the arrest of Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya in connection with the death of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu, who was found hanging at his official residence. Surendran alleged that Divya harboured animosity towards Babu for rejecting her unlawful interventions. He expressed scepticism over the possibility that the ADM took a bribe in a matter where Divya had intervened four times. Surendran pointed out that petrol pumps are typically not set up along curves on highways for safety reasons. He said that Divya's husband and the individual seeking permission for the petrol pump are close friends, suggesting that the pump might actually belong to her family.Additionally, Surendran accused Divya of attending Naveen Babu's farewell meeting uninvited to humiliate him. "An honest officer was portrayed as corrupt and driven to suicide," he said, emphasizing the need for charges against Divya for abetment of suicide. He criticized the ruling CPM, claiming it undermines the confidence of govt officials and has driven many honest officers to tragic ends. He also demanded Divya's immediate resignation.
