KOLKATA: A family feud over property — that had earlier seen siblings complaining to cops against their kin — took a turn for the worse on Sunday morning when a youth attacked his elder brother and sister with a sharp weapon and slashed at them multiple times. The elder brother is stated to be critical even as the sister escaped with minor injuries.
The incident was reported from Justice Manmatha Mukherjee Row in Sealdah around 10.40 am. The Muchipara cops have detained the younger brother and charged him with attempt to murder along with other IPC sections.
According to police, victims and witnesses, the accused — Sayak Khasnabish (28) — stays with his elder brother Anirban (34) and his parents at a three-storey house. His elder sister Priyanka Paul (37) is married. “My younger brother Sayak has been demanding that the property be written in his name. He is unemployed. He has been assaulting my father for some time now and he did the same on Saturday night. Hearing about it, I had rushed to my paternal house,” said Priyanka.
