Woman, son injured as part of their flat collapses in Bowbazar area

KOLKATA: A 70-year-old woman and her son were injured after a portion of the roof of their second-floor flat collapsed on Saturday morning. The injured have been identified as Chhaya Ganguli and her son Sanjoy Mondal.


Both were admitted to the

Medical College

hospital. Sanjoy Mondal was released in the afternoon after preliminary treatment whereas, his mother continues to remain in the hospital.

The mother and the son have been staying in the three-storeyed building at 82

Chittaranjan Avenue

, close to

Bowbazar

for past three decades.

The

KMC

had slapped an 'insecure' tag on the century-old building. The KMC building department officials on Saturday afternoon went to the spot. “We will pull down the insecure parts on Monday,” said a KMC building department official.
