Woman injured in New Yr night accident dies

Kolkata: A 24-year-old woman, Bandana Das, who was severely injured in an accident barely 10 minutes before the New Year midnight, died in hospital on Wednesday.The incident had occurred around 11.50 pm on December 31, 2023, when Bandana, a resident of Mukundapur, was riding pillion with Sandip Shaw. Police said the bike had come out of a bylane on Rashbehari Connector and was about to cross the road. The red traffic light had started blinking, but the bikers did not stop, hoping they to cross over in time. Even as they sped ahead, a private car towards Ruby Crossing also erred and did not slow down at yellow light. The two vehicles collided and Shaw and Bandana were injured.Sandip was taken to SSKM. Bandana, who got internal and external injuries, was admitted to Ruby Hospital, where she died.
